Rebranding announcement
When I launched my wind energy consultancy in August 2025, I started on a simple premise: the wind energy sector deserves more transparent, auditable, and reproducible analysis.
After 18+ years spanning roles at several leading international corporations, I had seen first-hand that we were delivering robust work, but sometimes with enormous effort, because the underlying processes were complex, fragmented, and harder to sustain than they needed to be. I set out to find a better way: one that is more efficient, more precise, and frankly, more compatible with a life worth living.
Many of you supported that launch in ways I didn't expect. Thank you - it confirmed that the mission resonated beyond my own conviction.
Six months in, an administrative matter required a name change. I resolved it, chose a name built to last, and kept moving.
Orangewind GmbH is now RUDORA GmbH (RdR). Same legal entity. Same founder. Same mission: Driven by winds, powered by purpose.
The Change
The name RUDORA reflects the thermodynamic creation of wind, literally.
- RUD- is drawn from the Proto-Indo-European root reudh-. Historically associated with "red," it represents the original solar thermal energy that strikes the earth and sparks the atmospheric engine.
- -ORA comes from the Latin ora - the atmospheric boundary where temperature differentials dictate planetary kinetic motion.
Just as solar thermal energy catalyses the atmosphere into motion, RUDORA exists to catalyse the efforts of our peers and clients: accelerating innovation and reducing project uncertainty through better tools and more rigorous process.
The real update isn't the name
RdR's focus has sharpened. The current priority is clear: quality assurance for complex energy yield assessments and independent third-party reviews.
This is the work that sits between a wind project's technical assumptions and a financing decision. When a bank, an investor, or a developer needs confidence that the numbers are defensible, that's where RdR operates.
But RdR also wants to be a sandbox: a place where clients and partners can explore uncharted territory together; testing new approaches, questioning established assumptions, and arriving at better results because the process itself is more rigorous and more open.
In practice, this means contributing:
- Independent EYA reviews aligned with IEC 61400-15 and FGW Technical Guidelines, drawing on years of experience in third-party capacity review across a wide range of projects.
- Traceable uncertainty budgets: every assumption documented, every input versioned, every output reproducible.
- Due diligence-ready deliverables: deliverables, version-controlled workflows, and structured QA logs designed for lender and investor due diligence.
This isn't just about "feeling more confident" in the results. It's about providing supporting documentation where possible: building a clear trail of evidence so reviewers and decision-makers can double-check everything themselves. Staying grounded in the facts remains the top priority.
How we work
RUDORA is founder-led. I hold the technical accountability for every deliverable directly.
My experience spans onshore and offshore projects across multiple geographies.
For multi-disciplinary projects, we work through a curated network of vetted specialists. Each partner operates under RUDORA's QA framework: defined scope, peer review, traceable sign-off. This consulting-tech focus is balanced by my independent, part-time research role (with strict IP separation), keeping RUDORA grounded in current science while focused on real-world EYA challenges.
Open standards and open tools
The open-source commitment from day one hasn't changed, it's become more focused.
RdR is happy to collaborate with and support open-source initiatives in wind energy and wind resource assessment. This is what we mean by coopetition: collaborating on the infrastructure that makes everyone's work more credible, while competing on the quality of our own analysis. The tools are the commons. The expertise is the differentiator.
RUDORA is not a new competitor entering the market. It's the same partner, now more focused, and contributing to the community.

What comes next
RUDORA will be prioritising depth over breadth:
1. Strengthening QA automation for EYA reviews: structured checks, reproducible pipelines, audit-logged workflows.
2. Publishing open-source tools that the broader community can use, test, and build on.
3. Continuing technical work through international and national engagement with technical committees.
Over the past 18 years, I’ve seen too many skilled engineers lose focus on core analysis because they are bogged down by administrative overhead. I want our partners and reviewers to be able to clearly see how we reached our conclusions and feel confident challenging them. By streamlining our workflow, our analysts can focus their expertise on high-level problem-solving rather than repetitive, manual tasks.
Same wind. Sharper (and shorter) name. Back to work.
